Mission Statement:
Sacred Heart, a Roman Catholic Retreat House, is an apostolate of
the Jesuits of the Missouri Province. Everything that Sacred Heart
offers is inspired by the vision expressed in the Spiritual Exercises
of St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. Sacred
Heart welcomes all who come to deepen their knowledge and love of
Jesus Christ and of their ecclesial traditions through retreats
and other means of spiritual growth.
Among its major activities Sacred Heart Jesuit Retreat House offers
retreats, conferences, days of prayer, and spiritual direction for
those seeking personal growth in faith, prayer, and in the ability
to respond whole-heartedly to God. Sacred Heart also collaborates
with other Jesuit institutions in fostering spiritual growth for those
working in apostolic activities associated with the Society of Jesus
and endeavors to support the spiritual growth programs of the local
Catholic Churches.
Location:
Located in the colorful foothills of the Rocky Mountains and surrounded by panoramic views of the majestic Rockies, Sacred Heart Retreat House offers the perfect setting for solitude, reflection, and prayer. There are plentiful
trails for walking, hiking, and enjoyment of nature. You can look
west to the mountains rising over the foothills and east to ranch
valleys and gentle mesas. Even more, you can look within to see
the direction your life has taken and the choices you face.

Accommodations:
The attractive simplicity of the forty-five private single rooms (bath
facilities and restrooms are centrally located on each corridor), the
comfortable furnishings, and the arched wood beams of the chapel, lounge,
and dining room provide a warm, welcoming ambience. Bed linens and
towels are provided for each retreatant. In keeping with national health
trends and to maintain a smoke-free environment for our guests and
staff, smoking is not permitted inside any building at Sacred Heart
Jesuit Retreat House.

The
main building is barrier free and easily accommodates people who
use wheelchairs or walkers. Although we cannot take requests
for any specific room or location, we would like to know if for
health reasons you have special needs. If
so please indicate this in the appropriate space on the reservation
form.
Simple, nutritious meals offering a variety of foods are prepared
in the retreat house kitchen and served cafeteria style. Complimentary beverages
and light snacks are available in the main dining room throughout
the day.
Reservations:
A form for making a reservation is available on this site.
Please note that reservations for any overnight retreat are made
by mail only—not by phone—using the reservation form along with
the appropriate non-refundable deposit. A retreat reservation will
be confirmed only after the reservation form accompanied by the
proper deposit is received. In order to allow time to process a
request for an individually directed retreat we must receive the
form and the deposit at least two weeks prior to the start of the
retreat. Sorry, but we are unable to accommodate payment by
credit card. Please do not make your travel arrangements until
you have received our written confirmation of your retreat dates.
Reservations by an individual for a day of quiet or for Prayer Day
programs may be made by phone and may be paid for at the door. Individual
rooms are not provided for day retreatants.
Early reservations are advised as many retreats
fill to capacity very quickly. If any retreat is already filled
when a reservation is received, the sender is notified and he/she
has the option to be placed in chronological order on a waiting
list. Should space become available, the applicant is informed immediately
in the order in which the reservation request was received. In the
event that we are unable to accommodate those on the waiting list,
they may either transfer their deposit to another program or have
their deposit returned. When sending checks to the retreat house,
please remember to indicate the purpose for the remittance; this
will ensure an accurate crediting of accounts.
Cost:
The actual cost of a day at the retreat house is considerably
more than the suggested offerings listed. However, our main concern
is that the Sacred Heart Jesuit Retreat House be available when you
need it most. All are welcome even when they are unable to give the
full suggested offerings. We depend on the generosity of others to
help those less financially blessed. Anyone who cannot afford the
full suggested offering may write to the Director prior to the retreat
and request a waiver, a reduction, or an extension of time for payment.
Transportation:
If you are arriving by plane and do not have a ride to the Retreat House, you may wish to use the Big Sky Shuttle. The fare is $55 one way to and from Denver International Airport, and advance reservations are necessary. The shuttle service will bring you directly to the Retreat House. Their hours of operation are 3:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight.
Additional passengers to the same destination are discounted with an advance reservation, so if you are arriving or returning with another person you may wish to take advantage of the lower price. If you are making a retreat as part of a group we'll help you find out about others returning at the same time.
Please check Big Sky's website (info@bigskyshuttle.com) or call 1-877-336-8267 for more information and reservations.
Sacred Heart Jesuit Retreat House is located 1.5 miles west of Sedalia,
